PT. Ade Putra Tanrajeng (PT. APT) is a national private company engaged in coal mining and the holder of a Production Operation Mining Business Permit (IUP) based on a Decree to the Regional Licensing and Investment Board of East Kalimantan Province with an area of +4,061 ha. The location of the IUP Production Operation area of PT. Ade Putra Tanrajeng is administratively located in the Tabang District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province. Wastewater generated from mining activities can damage the biota of river waters and harm the community, so the management of waste water disposal must be carried out in accordance with environmental quality standards. The purpose of this study was to determine the source of wastewater, analyze wastewater disposal techniques, analyze the utilization of wastewater from coal mining activities of PT. Ade Putra Tanrajeng. The method used in this study is to analyze wastewater and river water using physical analysis, chemical analysis, and biological analysis to determine the value of water quality standards. Disposal of waste water from mining activities comes from surface water that passes through the pit and disposed of to the sump pit which is a water storage pond then pumped to the big pond which functions to collect waste water from all openings in the area. The flow from the big pond will go to the settling pond with four compartments, namely compartment 1 neutralization and removal of iron and manganese, compartment 2 for TSS removal by coagulation and flocculation processes, compartment 3 checking and pumping, and compartment 4 final storage. If the wastewater in the settling pond has met the quality standards, it will be channeled into the Pleo River and into the Belayan River. PT. Ade Putra Tanrajeng uses wastewater that has been treated at the setting pond for watering the mine road.
