Gender Dan Kewirausahaan: Menelisik Keputusan Memulai Bisnis UMKM

Peran gender dalam aktivitas kewirausahaan merupakan masalah yang kompleks dan multifaset. Rendahnya keterwakilan perempuan dalam kewirausahaan merupakan masalah kompleks yang dibentuk oleh berbagai faktor. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini akan membutuhkan pendekatan komprehensif. Urgensi penelitan ini didasarkan pada identifikasi permasalahan, bahwa kewirausahaan sebagian besar dilakukan oleh laki-laki, untuk laki-laki dan tentang laki-laki. Hal ini menghasilkan wacana kewirausahaan maskulin, di mana laki-laki diprioritaskan sebagai fokus alami dari praktik normatif dan perempuan diposisikan sebagai subordinat laki-laki dalam konteks usaha kewirausahaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi keputusan gender memulai bisnis Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM). Metode penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan analisis media menggunakan langkah-langkah coding konten dengan bantuan software NVivo sebagai alat analisisnya. Adapun jumlah informan yang digunakan yaitu sebanyak 40. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa melalui waancara mendalam / focus group discussion dengan 40 informan awal dapat dipeoleh hasil analisis dapat diperoleh informasi penting bahwa keputusan gender dalam memulai bisnis UMKM yaitu tantangan, kesetaraan, dukungan, jaringan dan modal. Informasi temuan berikutnya bahwa gender telah memainkan peranan penting dalam pertumbuhan aktivitas bisnis UMKM di Kabupaten Luwu Utara. Saat ini pelaku bisnis UMKM perempuan khusunya yang bergerak pada skala mikro dan kecil mengalami pertumbuhan, meskipun tingkat pertumbuhannya tidak melampaui pelaku bisnis jenis kelamin laki – laki.
